In Schubert (1797-1828), somewhat like Beethoven, we find an intermediate path between classicism and romanticism. In parallel with a context of formal procedures, harmonies and an extreme romantic sensibility, we find a classical formality, although, in this case, dilated in a sense of monumentality, for which he is given the epithet of "The Great".
